The Clarke Infinity experts were brought into this project mid-way through its creation, so took extra care to understand the brief of the clients, who already had a strong idea of what they wanted to achieve. With an eye on the details, they were a pleasure to work with. Working collaboratively is one of our team’s strengths and having taken the time to understand the vision, we were able to identify points of improvement within the design.

Being situated within the property’s basement, the space benefitted from a great level of isolation, with no sound disturbance emitting in or out of the room. With the entrance to the rear, there are no visual distractions for viewers either. To achieve ‘wow factor’ on entering the room, a solid wall had been installed behind the back row to mask the view of the seating from the outside lounge – however we determined a structure like this would both create a space with its own acoustic micro climate causing discreet echoes and restrict the positioning of speakers placing them too close to the audience. It would be important to address and enhance the acoustic profile of the space whilst retaining the intended visuals of the entryway.

Further visual aspects in the room had already been implemented ahead of our taking over the project, which included existing fabric installed throughout the majority of the walls of the space. Upon inspection, this beautiful fabric was found to be quite dense for the particular audio requirements of the room. A bespoke solution would be required to implement acoustic treatment to work with and alongside the chosen fabric – ensuring neither the lush aesthetics, nor the audio performance of the room, was sacrificed.
